Should a Plumber do Your Outdoor Faucet Replacement?

If all you need to do is just replace the spigot on your outdoor faucet because you want to upgrade to a better version, that’s not hard to do yourself. You simply turn off the water to the house, drain the faucet, remove the old faucet by loosening it from the wall and unscrewing it, and then screwing a new faucet in with plumber’s tape around it. Turn the water back on and check to ensure there are no leaks and the water can come out. Seal around the outside with concrete and you’re done.

However, if you need to replace your faucet because it’s broken or it froze, you may want to have a professional plumber come out and do it. They can also check the rest of the line to ensure there is no other damage that needs to be repaired. If the water line into the house is cracked or damaged, a local plumber can do line repair work at the same time to ensure you don’t have a plumbing failure that could cause flooding or other damage in your home.
