How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Leaky Faucet?

The cost to fix a leaking faucet can have a wide range depending on what’s actually wrong with the faucet. If it’s just a small part like a washer that needs to be replaced, the repair can be as little as a trip charge and a $1 part, but if the faucet is irreparably broken, it may need to be entirely replaced. Some plumbers have flat rates for simple fixes that they can quote you for “best case scenario” fixes, so if budget is a big concern, you can inquire about this before scheduling an appointment. However, in most cases, a professional plumber won’t be able to give you an estimate for how much a faucet repair will be without getting their hands dirty and figuring out what’s wrong first.

Many faucets have internal parts that simply cannot be fixed if they break, requiring a faucet replacement if there’s a failure. Obviously, in that scenario the replacement cost will depend on what kind of replacement faucet you put in. Nicer faucets (premium finishes, additional functionality, specialty components, etc.)  will be more expensive than their more basic counterparts. The location of the faucet will also affect the cost. Kitchen faucets and shower faucets tend to be much more expensive than bathroom faucets or bathtub faucets because they have more options.

If a local plumber gives you an estimate for how much a faucet repair service will be, find out what that includes because the cost of the faucet itself typically not included. Generally, a plumber will only give you an estimate for their labor, not the parts because the cost of a faucet can vary so much from one model to another.

For this reason, some homeowners may decide to put off having their faucet repaired. However, if you have a leaking faucet, waiting can cost you money as well. A Faucet that’s dripping into the sink, shower basin, or bathtub can result in costly water loss and a faucet that’s dripping under a sink or behind a wall can quickly result in water damage and mold growth. Instead of putting it off, call a licensed local plumber to get it fixed today!
