What Does it Cost to Fix a Broken Faucet?

The cost to repair a broken faucet can vary widely based on what’s wrong with the faucet and whether damage has been done to your home or kitchen because of the break. A dripping faucet is likely going to be the least expensive and quickest repair job. A simple faucet leak is frequently due to an internal component like a washer or valve seat coming loose or wearing out. A local plumber has the kind of tools and expertise needed to fix your faucet quickly, often much faster than homeowners can themselves. Unless this kind of leak has been neglected for a significant amount of time, it does not typically do damage to the sink or tub where it’s been dripping. However, if a faucet is leaking from underneath the sink where it attaches to supply lines, that can result in a much costlier repair as the job may need to include bathroom restoration to reverse the effects of water on cabinets, flooring, and belongings.

If the faucet itself is broken (like if it is cracked or permanently blocked with scale buildup), it will need to be replaced. A local plumber will certainly charge more to replace a faucet than repair it the cost will include the labor needed to remove the old faucet and install the new one. Additionally, there’s the cost of the faucet itself as well. Fancier faucets will not only cost more for the unit but may also require more time to install, continuing to increase the overall project cost.

If any other plumbing elements need to be repaired or replaced in conjunction with the faucet fix, the price will obviously increase, which is why it’s difficult to answer the question, “How much does it cost to fix a faucet?” without knowing what’s broken and what the root cause of the problem is. Broadly speaking, fixing a broken faucet can be $75 on the low end up to $600 on the high end. If you suspect that your plumbing problem is relatively minor in nature, it never hurts to ask the plumber to look at any other home plumbing concerns that you have while the plumber is on site to make the most of the plumber’s trip charge.
