Can You Fix Broken Pipe?

Can you fix a broken pipe yourself? To answer that you’ll need to know what’s wrong with the pipe and how that damage occurred.

For instance, if you have a burst pipe from freezing, you probably can’t (or shouldn’t) fix it yourself because there may be more damage to your pipes than you can see. In a scenario like this, you’ll want to have an experienced Union Hill plumber examine the pipe for any other signs of damage anywhere else that may need repair when the broken part is replaced. However, if you have a pipe fitting that has come loose over time or corroded from hard water buildup, you can likely turn off the water supply and replace that yourself.

To figure out whether you can do DIY pipe repair, try to understand the following things:

  • What is broken.
  • How/why it broke.
  • What kind of damage it caused.
  • If it can be repaired or whether it will need to be replaced.
  • What kind of fix is required.

If you can’t determine some of these elements, give us a call at 1 (800) 674-9130 and we will come take a look at your broken pipe. We serve the greater Chicago area and can assist with all your Union Hill plumbing needs!
