How Much Will a 24 Hour Emergency Plumbing Service Near Me Cost?

Generally speaking, an emergency plumber will typically charge about double what a regular plumbing job with a similar number of labor hours would cost. However, it is important to note that the rates may be higher on a holiday because staffing is harder to come by.

Plumbing rates usually include a flat trip charge and an hourly fee for the work being done. Then, obviously, there will be a parts charge for any parts that the plumber needed to supply for the work being performed. Some plumbers also have “extended service area” fees to cover the cost of fuel to travel to areas outside of their regular service area radius for a call that comes to them because no one closer can assist.

You can always ask a 24-hour plumber what they charge for emergency plumbing jobs before requesting that they come out. They should be able to give you a fees schedule or an estimate based on the type of issue you’re experiencing. But don’t be shocked when it’s more than you paid the last time you had your sink unclogged during regular business hours on a weekday. Emergency plumbing can get expensive because like anything else, if you want it done fast and you want the company you’re hiring to do a good job, it’s going to cost you. If you find a cheap emergency plumber, be skeptical. That likely they means the person isn’t licensed to do the work they are advertising (like a handyman who works on odd jobs).

Remember, all emergency plumbers are also “regular daytime plumbers,” but not all plumbers also work as emergency plumbers. The additional costs for emergency plumbing fixes must be higher to recruit experienced plumbers to do the work because the schedule makes it far more demanding work. Think of it this way, 24-hour plumbing rates must be high enough to convince plumbers be on call overnight, on weekends, and on holidays and then to go out to a jobsite instead of enjoying their time off. These rates also help to cover the added inventory that emergency plumbers need to keep on hand because if they need to replace pipes or fittings or anything else when parts suppliers are not open, they won’t be able to do the work if they don’t already have the parts and tools necessary.
